About a Person's Name in English
Normally, a name in English is made of three parts. Your first name, your middle name and your surname. In American English a surname is called a last name.
In English speaking countries it is very common to use only two names: the first and the last. So my friend Joseph Michael Darwin is very likely to introduce himself as Joseph Darwin.
